Ed had only one section meeting Friday at UCSB. So he caught another
section meeting on Thursday
and left Thursday night for Phoenix, arriving about an hour before
Ben got in from East Brunswick, NJ
and Gary arrived from San Diego. The weather was perfect for golf all
weekend.
Ben shot his best round Saturday, getting a birdie on the par five
18th hole. Ed was
competitive all weekend, but wasn't driving as well as he had been in
the summer of 1998.
.
The starting time Sunday morning was 8:30. Air was crisp and cool with
just a
hint of a breeze. This is the first tee on the Geronimo course, 520
yards par 5. The
green is just to the right of Ed's left shoulder in the picture on
the right. Notice the
good form on both golfers, left arm nearly straight with right elbow
tucked in close
to the side..
Ben making a good shot under very difficult conditions -- deep in the
trap 8 feet
below a narrow green. The ball is coming to rest about 3 feet to the
left of the
cup. Ed's head is barely visible. He's standing in the trap to the
left. Ben has
just completed his swing and is visible to the right of the flag stick.
This is the 17th
green on the Geronimo course.

Ed shows real concentration (and nearly perfect form)
blasting out of a difficult lie on the 15th hole of the
Geronimo course.

Geronimo
course. The end of a nearly perfect golf weekend.
